Theater collective Urangst mit Vergnügen presents: Let it go or Last Generation of the Carinthian Soul?

What remains when the memory gaps of history meet the questions of the present?

Between Heurigen idyll and the shadows of 1938, the collective URANGST MIT VERGNÜGEN dissects the Carinthian soul. In the garden of the Villa For Forest, a visually and linguistically powerful theatrical event unfolds about the art of repression, concealment, and self-deception – and about the radical search for a better future. An allegorical examination of the soul beyond self-pity and irresponsibility. The starting point is April 5, 1938, when Carinthians cheered Adolf Hitler from the balcony of the Hotel Sandwirth in Klagenfurt and squandered the Carinthian soul. In the play, this historical scene becomes the origin myth: A mythical Karawanken Pantheon punishes the land with seven plagues and sets an ultimatum. If the prophecies of the oracle Obirion are not followed, there is only time until 2027 – after that, the beautiful Carinthia faces annihilation by the meteor Karantor.

While the "Haiden" dominate daily life and routinely smile away the impending danger, a spectacular leak in the darknet brings the truth to light. With oversized props, a messenger of the gods (MAGDA KROPUINIG), a choir (ALEKSANDER TOLMAIER, LUDWIG MICHAEL), the chronicler and seer Koryphaios (DIETMAR PICKL), the seemingly absent but nonetheless omnipresent Mrs. Hitler (JULIA JOSEFINE URAK), and a magician of sounds (MARTIN SADOUNIK), an allegorically condensed production unfolds about evading guilt, self-deception, and responsibility.

Serious in theme, irreverent in approach, and explicitly not without hope: an invitation to take responsibility without losing the joy of play.
