Due to its length, this somewhat challenging circular trail leads in a large loop through the former mining village of Windisch Bleiberg and Bodental. If necessary, you can shorten the route using the two cross-connections. Eight well-kept rest areas with beautiful views invite you to linger and pause along the route. The trail is signposted in both directions. You have the option of starting the hike at three hiking starting points and choosing your own hiking time between a leisurely 1.5 hours and a challenging 4 hours with refreshment stops, depending on the route.

Coming from Klagenfurt on the B 91 Loiblpass-Bundesstraße in the direction of Loiblpass. On the Sapotniza turn right towards Bodental/Windisch Bleiberg. Large parking lot in Windisch Bleiberg opposite the church.

Take the S-Bahn from Klagenfurt to Weizelsdorf, continue by bus to the starting point in Windisch Bleiberg.

Suggestion: Start in Windisch Bleiberg, at 948 m above sea level.
A tunnel entrance below the church, which is dedicated to the patron saint of miners - St. Erhard - bears witness to the mining past in Windisch Bleiberg. Along the Bodenbach stream at the "Felsentor" rest area or via historic connecting paths uphill, with further rest areas, you reach the hidden Bodental valley. You continue along the valley floor through old cultivated landscape, past the vacation homes, to the legendary "Meerauge". The highlight of the circular hike is the most beautiful valley head of the Karawanken, "the fairytale meadow". The film about Ötzi, the Iceman, was shot here in 1998. On the wooded way back, you gain altitude and have a fantastic view of the vertical, jagged rock faces of the Zelenitza and Vertatscha at many prominent points, such as the "Rjautzablick" high seat. On the sunny slope, the trail leads past old farms and you hike through mountain and flower meadows, rich in botanical rarities. With "fairytale views" of the highest peaks of the Karawanken from the Koschuta to the Hochstuhl, you return to the starting point.
